WYRO Green Homes are proud to announce the commencement of our first Net Zero Carbon homes!

With the COP26 Climate Change Conference having recently finished, the overwhelming acknowledgement of Climate Change and greenhouse gas emissions is now at the forefront of every media news item and our everyday lives. At the current time (Nov 2021) the UK’s 29 million homes are recognised as emitting close to a quarter of the country’s entire CO2 emissions, with the average UK home emitting between 4.5 and 6 tonnes of CO2 per year (Gov.UK / Climate Change Committee -,uk)

In 5 years, just one average UK home will have produced enough CO2 to fill a premier league football pitch above head height*. Multiplying this by 29 million gives a staggering representation of the total volume of CO2 emitted by the UK’s housing sector alone. In recognition of these startling volumes of emissions, WYRO have been working hard to refine their timber frame construction homes designs, to ultimately make our first Net Zero Carbon emissions homes available from late Spring 2022 at Dolforgan View, Kerry.

So how are Net Zero Carbon emissions achieved?

Each of our Phase 3 homes at Dolforgan View will include the following as standard:

One tonne of CO2 fills a space of 556 cubic metres.

A home emitting 6 tonnes of CO2 per year emits 3,336 cubic metres of CO2. Over 5 years equals 16,680 cubic metres of CO2.

Average Premier League football pitch is 7,140 square metres, meaning a home emitting 6 tonnes of CO2 per year would fill a premier league pitch 2.33m deep or a home emitting 4.5 tonnes of CO2 per year would fill a premier league football pitch 1.75m deep.

Wyro’s new net zero carbon homes would emit a net amount of zero CO2 over the same 5 year period (as determined by the Govt approved SAP2012 system).
